City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department Promoting "Livin' the Lake Life" with parks, amenities, trails, events and activities for all.

Our department includes 16 parks just right for relaxing, recreation, family gatherings, concerts and special events, such as our annual WinterFest and Night Bike Rides. We also operate Beechwood Golf Course, Civic Auditorium and a number of multiuse trails. We offer a variety of programs, from youth sports to enrichment opportunities to exercise classes.

Create the cutest little pumpkin in the patch! Local artist Alayna Erne's next Children's Pottery class (for ages 7 and up) is a special β„Œπ–†π–‘π–‘π–”π–œπ–˜' π•°π–›π–Š π•°π–‰π–Žπ–™π–Žπ–”π–“, creating clay pumpkins and ghosts. Learn traditional sculpting techniques and discover the fun of hand sculpting little Halloween trinkets and personalizing through decorating and glazing.

This two-part class will be held 4-6 p.m. on October 6 and 13 at the La Porte Civic Auditorium. Pre-registration is required and can be completed online at www.laporteparkandrec.com. The Steady Stitchers are helping you put together a one-of-a-kind memory that will keep you all warm and fuzzy - no really, it will! Create a very special t-shirt quilt on Saturday, October 3, in this Experienced Quilt class.

From 9 a.m.-3 p.m., sewists will work on a 30x30 t-shirt quilt. Pre-registration is required, as well as bringing your shirts, 1-yard of lightweight, iron-on t-shirt stabilizer and a packed lunch (a kitchen will be available for use).
