I’m committed to the children and families of St. John. Not sure who decided that they would tell people that I am resigning from the board but I AM NOT.

Have I been quiet…. YES

I am not the president of the board. The same way that I know how to lead, I also know how to follow.

Election Day is TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8th
Be sure to elect someone who:
💙understands that the safety of ALL children and staff is priority (I work in public schools around the country).
💚has experience growing schools from F status as a principal (school turnaround is my specialty)
💙has deep roots in District 10 (lived here my entire life)
💚who understands the demands of being an uncertified teacher, substitute teacher, certified teacher, dean of students, principal and district level leader (I wore all of those hats as an educator).
💙is deeply committed to the educational system in our community (I’m a current public school parent).

I am the ONLY candidate in District 10 race with this level of experience

The newest data is in:
Louisiana moved from:
4th grade reading: 50th to 42nd nationally
4th grade math: 50th to 44th nationally
8th grade reading: 45th to 39th nationally
8th grade math: 49th to 45th nationally

This is amazing. We are no longer ranked 48th in the nation. Every state took significant declines. Our students are growing in Louisiana. Our educators are working hard to grow students.

(BATON ROUGE, LA) - Louisiana’s 4th grade students led the country in reading growth, according to The Nation's Report Card, released today by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). In the first national assessments since the global pandemic and two historic hurricane seasons disrupt...

I saw this first photo on a superintendent’s Twitter page and thought it was worth sharing.

In 2017 our district’s performance score was a B.
In 2018 the accountability system changed and we dropped to a C. We remained a C until the pandemic in 2020 and our scores (although simulated scores) dropped significantly. We have only had simulated scores since 2020.

Contrary to what many believe, our district is not a failing district and the proof will be in the pudding when our scores are released in November. The academic index is only one portion of the total make up of school performance scores.

We are being faced with the same challenges that every school district in the country is faced with. We had 2 school years where students were in and out of school. On top of that we went 38 consecutive days out of school last school year because of Hurricane Ida.

💚💙Our teachers and students are working hard to achieve the benchmarks set by Louisiana Department of Education and we don’t acknowledge that enough. 💚💙

The second photo is information from the Louisiana Department of Education’s website that discuss the school accountability system, how it’s changed and how school performance scores are calculated.

Louisiana Act 1 (2012) significantly reformed the way in which school boards govern, the hiring practices of school districts, tenure requirements for teachers and the evaluation process for employees in Louisiana public schools.
School Boards now have 3 essential duties:
1. Hire and evaluate superintendents
2. Adopt a balanced budget
3. Adopt policies that align with state and local laws

As your school board member, I have and will continue to follow the requirements of board members…. BECAUSE THAT IS THE LAW.

I won’t make promises to get involved in the day to day operations of schools, because that IS NOT the role of a board member. I WILL CONTINUE to facilitate parent and community member concerns by listening and connecting individuals with the right district personnel member to address their concerns immediately.

I WILL CONTINUE TO hold the board’s only employee (THE SUPERINTENDENT) accountable for making the best academic and financial decisions for ALL STUDENTS in the school district.

I am asking for your support to continue improving our school district for OUR CHILDREN.
