Somatogravic illusions occur during rapid acceleration and deceleration in flight. This illusion usually happens when there's limited exterior visibility, and you react to body senses over actual flight instrument readings.

Dupont Lapeer Airport News - To Those who know Ed Oyster

Mr. Oyster, a radio engineer, worked at a few radio stations – including WMPC in Lapeer – and eventually built his own, WTHM, in 1961. He co-owned it with a few others and worked as the general manager. "The microphone is always on," he often said. After about a dozen years with WTHM, Ed moved over to the Dupont Lapeer Airport, where he ran its aviation electronics and eventually become its manager.

He served on the Mayfield Township Airport Board and the Lapeer County Board of Supervisors.

A gathering will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. His funeral service will be the following day, Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11 AM at Hunters Creek Community Church, 2471 Metamora Rd., Lapeer, MI, 48446. His family will greet friends Friday from 10 AM until the service begins at 11 AM. The service will be followed immediately by military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.
