Save the date for a disaster exercise in the fictional world of Calamity County! Teams will navigate the chaos and creatively solve assignments. At the conclusion of the game, we will discuss your emergency operation plan in relation to community readiness for animal needs.
This training is open to all emergency managers, health department professionals, veterinarians, livestock and horse owners, local government officials, first responders, animal control officers, and animal shelter staff and volunteers. To be a Michigander is to always be debating on where 'Up North' begins.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Joshua Cohen, Lead Ecologist and Senior Conservation Scientist with the Michigan Natural Features Inventory, both weighed in on the debate in a recent Michigan Public Radio piece.
From the map, featured in the article, you can see the "tension zone" that squiggles from Lake Michigan to Saginaw Bay which helps to distinguish where you can find some natural features that are unique to the north or south parts of the state.
