Would you know the signs of a stroke? Every minute counts. 🧠

Today is World Stroke Day. Remember BE FAST:

⚖️ B: Balance. Sudden loss of balance
👀 E: Eyes. Sudden vision changes
🙂 F: Face. One side of the face drooping
💪 A: Arms. Weakness in one arm
🗣️ S: Speech. Slurred or strange speech
⏰ T: Time. Call 911 right away

Recovery often continues at home, and it's usually family who steps in to help. If you're caring for a loved one after a stroke, you don't have to figure it out alone.

Parents and caregivers, you have more influence than you might think. A few ways to start the conversation:

❤️ Talk honestly about the risks of drugs, alcohol and va**ng
🏡 Be clear about your family's expectations
🤝 Let them know they can always come to you

We all have a list of things we want to accomplish. But when was the last time you made a list of everything you've already been through, learned or accomplished?

It's called a "reverse bucket list," and it might be a helpful way to look at your life a little differently.

Our own Board Member, psychologist Dr. Rachel Needle, was recently featured in TIME magazine discussing how recognizing our past experiences, including the difficult ones, can help us appreciate our resilience.

As Dr. Needle explains in the article, "You're more resilient than maybe you're giving yourself credit for on a regular basis."

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! 💙💛

We're celebrating the smiles, personalities, talents and achievements of children with Down syndrome throughout our community!

Supporting healthy development starts with giving families access to the right tools and resources. 💙

On Tuesday, October 6, families with children under age 5 were invited to the Main Library in West Palm Beach for a FREE developmental screening event.

Through 211’s Help Me Grow program, families can access free developmental screenings, learn more about their child’s milestones and connect with community resources that support healthy growth and development.

From communication and motor skills to problem-solving, social skills and behavior, developmental screenings help parents and caregivers better understand how their children are progressing and identify areas where additional support may be helpful.

And the support doesn’t end with one event! Help Me Grow provides ongoing guidance, care coordination and connections to resources for families with young children.
