MET Fostering Futures Scholarship

MET's Fostering Futures Scholarship provides scholarships to young adults who have experienced foster care who are enrolled at MI colleges and universities

The numbers are sobering. Seventy percent of teens who emancipate from foster care report that they want to attend college, but fewer than ten percent who graduate from high school enroll in college, and of those less than one percent graduate from college.* Approximately 13,000 children are in the Michigan foster care system at any given time. A growing number of Michigan youth are reaching adult

age while in foster care and have no resources to attend college when they age out of the system. Individuals now have the opportunity to help eligible foster care students attend college through MET's new Charitable Tuition Program. Charitable donations will go toward providing scholarships to foster care students at Michigan public colleges who meet academic and/or need-based criteria established by the colleges.
