As you prepare to celebrate, be on the lookout for fireworks safety tips on your local news. Keep a hose or bucket of water nearby, light only one firework at a time, keep children and spectators at a safe distance, never relight a firework that doesn’t ignite, and soak used fireworks in water before throwing them away. Celebrate responsibly and help make it a safe holiday for everyone.

Today, the Lansing Fire Department proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of our new state-of-the-art training center. This cutting-edge facility features multiple burn rooms, multi-level training environments, and the latest fire service technology to help prepare our firefighters for the challenges they face every day.

This investment in training ensures our members continue to receive the highest level of preparation, enhancing safety and service for the community we are honored to protect. We look forward to utilizing this incredible resource for years to come.

Today the C-shift had the opportunity to host a local youth program for a station tour and fire safety presentation.

Participants learned about our ladder truck, saw demonstrations, specialized equipment, and discussed the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe. We also spent time reviewing essential fire safety practices, including what to do if a fire occurs in your home and the importance of having and practicing a family escape plan.

Thank you to the students and program leaders for visiting us today. We always enjoy sharing fire safety education and helping the next generation learn how to stay safe.

A special thank you to the firefighters who took time out of their day to engage with the group, answer questions, demonstrate equipment, and help make this experience both educational and memorable. Your dedication to serving our community extends far beyond emergency response, and it does not go unnoticed.
