Last night, it was an honor to recognize several members of the Trenton Police Department for their incredible bravery and dedication to our community.

On November 26th, 2025, an officer involved shooting in Trenton put several officers in an incredibly difficult and dangerous situation. Their quick response and professionalism that night helped keep others safe and demonstrated the courage it takes to serve our community.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to present these tributes on behalf of the 27th District and recognize those who stepped up when they were needed most!💙

60-Second Budget Update ⏳

Proud to announce that this year's state budget includes funding for new police radios in Southgate and new fire trucks for Riverview and Wyandotte. These investments will help our first responders stay equipped, improve public safety, and better serve our communities.

The widespread, ongoing power outage hitting Downriver has been a challenging time for our community. Downriver families should have a grid that is resilient and energy that is affordable and reliable. That has been a priority for me in the legislature and one I will keep fighting for. Homes are for families, not corporations. Large investors are contributing to the housing crisis and driving up costs. I’ll continue to fight for families and young people looking to purchase their first home.

Yesterday, Rylee Linting - State Representative testified in support of her request for $1.5 million for the Kids-TALK Children's Advocacy Center, a program of The Guidance Center that serves child victims of abuse throughout Wayne County.

While neighboring counties, including Oakland County, experience average wait times of just three days for forensic interviews, children in Wayne County often wait up to three weeks for these critical services. This funding would strengthen staffing for forensic interviewers, expand capacity, and significantly reduce wait times, ensuring children receive the support and resources they need as quickly as possible.

The past few weeks have been busy, and I am so grateful for the chance to meet so many incredible people and see firsthand the work being done throughout Downriver.

I enjoyed touring the Southgate Fire Department and learning more about the vital role they play in keeping our community safe.

Southgate Heritage Day Parade was a wonderful chance to connect with residents, local organizations, and families while celebrating our community.

At Michigan Humane, I had the opportunity to learn more about their work caring for animals and advocating for animal welfare throughout our state.

The Guidance Center’s Summer Glow event on Grosse Ile highlighted the incredible work being done to support children and families, including victims of abuse, throughout our region.

The Downriver Community Conference (DCC) Ribbon Cutting and Open House was a great way to celebrate their new facility and learn more about their efforts to strengthen our region through workforce development and community partnerships.

One of the best parts of this role is getting to see the incredible work happening in every corner of our community.
