Today is one of the biggest days of my life. At 8:02 this morning my wife and I welcomed our daughter into the world!

12 hours later, I was in Lansing to vote on a key budget measure. Some of my colleagues on the opposite side of the aisle were likely disappointed with my arrival tonight. But I am here to do a job not play politics. If there is work to be done I will be there to do it.

It's the job I was elected to do.

Today should be a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Instead we're faced with the reality that in much of this country people have fewer rights than they did 50 years ago.
