Joe Wilson LV City Commissioner

Joe Wilson LV City Commissioner I have been a Leavenworth resident since 1985, veteran, small business owner, and community advocate.

I’m serving on the City Commission and my goals are to support public safety, local business, and fair, transparent government that works for everyone.

Today I had the privilege of attending the Juneteenth Parade and Festival at Haymarket Square with fellow Commissioner Maxwell, Commissioner Pittman, and Mayor Pro Tem Hollister.

A special moment for me was watching my son march with the color guard during the parade. I was also proud to see our JROTC cadets recognized by the NAACP for their participation and service to our community.

Events like this remind us what makes Leavenworth special. Neighbors coming together, celebrating our shared history, and supporting the next generation of leaders. Thank you to everyone who helped make today’s celebration such a success. It was a great day for our community.

Reliable, affordable internet is no longer optional. It affects our homes, our businesses, our schools, our remote workers, and our ability to grow as a community.

As a City Commissioner, I have been working to help bring Clearwave Fiber to Leavenworth as another option for residents and businesses. The goal is simple: more competition, better service options, and stronger infrastructure for our community.

This is not just about adding another internet provider. It is about making sure Leavenworth has the connectivity we need to support families, businesses, students, and future growth.

To help move this forward, we need to show Clearwave that there is real interest in Leavenworth.

If you would be interested in Clearwave Fiber for your home or business, please comment below or you can DM if you prefer and let us know.

You can simply comment:

“Interested for my home”
“Interested for my business”
“Interested for both”

or you can ask questions.

The more interest we can show, the stronger our case will be.

Thank you for helping us push for better options, more competition, and stronger infrastructure for Leavenworth.

My friend Jon Kesler has been putting a lot of information out there to help everyone better understand the ongoing data center discussions in our community. He continues updating the information after each County Commission meeting so people can stay informed as things evolve.

No matter where you stand on the issue, I think it is important that we all stay educated, review the facts, and understand the potential impact these decisions could have on our community moving forward. I appreciate the time and effort being put into keeping the public informed and engaged in the process.

CASA Night at the Races

This is one of those events that really matters.

CASA of Leavenworth County works every day to advocate for kids who are navigating the court system through no fault of their own. They make sure these kids have a voice, someone in their corner, and a path toward stability.

This work does not happen without support from the community.

Night at the Races is their biggest fundraiser of the year, and it directly fuels the mission. Every ticket, every sponsor, every dollar raised helps provide trained advocates for children who need it most.

A lot of that success starts with strong leadership. Kelly Meyer continues to do an outstanding job leading this organization and pushing the mission forward in a meaningful way.

If you are looking for a way to give back locally, this is a great place to start.

Show up, support the cause, and help make a difference for kids right here in our community.

Congratulations to the Leavenworth High School JROTC Raiders on bringing home their 8th National Championship. That kind of success does not happen by accident. It comes from discipline, teamwork, leadership, and a commitment to doing the hard work every single day.

As a Leavenworth JROTC graduate myself, I know firsthand the value of this program. It helped shape me, gave me opportunities, and played a role in me earning a college scholarship. Programs like this build confidence, character, and future leaders.

While I never had the privilege of being a Raider since I graduated before the program was started, I still take a great deal of pride in seeing what this program has become and the example these cadets continue to set.

A huge congratulations to the outstanding cadre, instructors, families, and especially the cadets who continue to uphold this tradition of excellence. Your dedication, determination, and willingness to buy in every day is what makes greatness possible.

Leavenworth has always had one of the best JROTC programs in the nation, and this latest championship is proof that the tradition continues. Well done.

Today I am in Salina attending the City Leaders Academy through The League of Kansas Municipalities with Mayor Pro Tem Rebecca Hollister.

We are spending the day learning more about city government, budgeting, ethics, public meetings, and how to better serve the people of Leavenworth.

I believe continuing to learn and grow is an important part of being an effective commissioner, and I am looking forward to bringing new ideas back home.

Wishing everyone in Leavenworth a happy Easter.

I hope today is filled with family, good food, laughter, and time with the people who matter most. Easter is a great reminder of renewal, hope, and the blessings we have in our lives.

I am thankful to be part of such a strong and caring community, and I appreciate all the people who help make Leavenworth a special place to call home.

Friends, I want to share a GoFundMe for “Spider Mike,” an old friend from high school. He was seriously injured in a tree trimming accident and could really use our support right now.

This community has always been one that shows up when people are in need. We take care of our friends, our neighbors, and each other. I am asking you to do that again here.

If you are able, please consider donating or sharing the link. Every bit helps, and it all adds up.
