Notice is hereby given to MLA members that the Annual Meeting will take place during MLA 2026 Annual Conference at the Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 3:00 – 4:00 PM.

MLA 2026 Annual Conference registration is not required to attend the annual meeting and all members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

On this day, 135 years ago, the Lapeer County Democrat issued a notice that librarians of Michigan would meet in Detroit on September 1, "for the purpose of organizing a Michigan Library Association" (we know that the notice is published a day after the actual event... news traveled slowly back then ;)

Join us September 9, 7–8:30pm, Lynn Liberato will discuss her book "Michigan's CON-CON 11: Women and State Constitution-making in 1961." Learn about pioneering women, including Grand Rapids delegates Dorothy Judd and Ella Koeze, and what it means to be a delegate engaged in revising Michigan's highest law.

Dorothy (Leonard) Judd was a Grand Rapids educator, reformer, and civic leader whose career spanned decades of public service. Active in the League of Women Voters, she helped advance civil service reform in Michigan and was elected as a delegate to the Michigan Constitutional Convention of 1961–1962. The Grand Rapids History Center preserves her papers, available for the public to learn more.
