This week, we celebrate National EMS Week—a time dedicated to recognizing the vital role Emergency Medical Services play in our community. EMS Week honors the commitment, compassion, and lifesaving care provided by our paramedics and EMTs every day.

In what is often one of the worst and most difficult moments in a person’s life, EMS professionals arrive ready to provide not only critical medical care, but also calm reassurance and compassion when it is needed most. Their dedication makes a lifesaving difference for individuals and families in times of crisis.

We are excited to welcome Assistant Chief Eric Arnold to Delta Township. He has valuable credentials, and we are excited to have him join our department.

Delta Township has named Eric Arnold as its new Assistant Fire Chief. Arnold joins the Delta Township Fire Department with more than 25 years of experience in the fire service. Chief Arnold has dedicated his career to serving the community, strengthening department operations, and leading firefighters with integrity, accountability, and professionalism.

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve the Delta Township community and become part of an organization that is widely respected for its superior service, expertise, and professionalism,” said Chief Arnold. “I look forward to working alongside Delta’s dedicated fire professionals who make this department a success. I am eager to step into this administrative role, where I hope to provide strategic leadership through an effective, forward-thinking fire department capable of meeting the evolving needs of this community.”

On International Firefighters' Day, we want to take a moment to recognize the members of the Delta Township Fire Department for all they do to keep our community safe.

Today, May 4th, we recognize International Firefighters’ Day—a time to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of firefighters around the world and right here in our community.

This day was established in 1999 following a tragic wildfire in Australia, and it serves as a reminder of the challenges these brave individuals face every day to keep our communities safe. International Firefighters’ Day is not only about remembrance, but also appreciation. It’s a chance to thank the individuals who choose to serve our community each and every day.

A severe stretch of weather is expected with multiple rounds of storms and increasing flood risks. Here’s what to know:

🌪️ Tuesday Evening – Tuesday Night
• All severe hazards possible, including tornadoes
• This could become a significant severe weather event for parts of the region
• Power outages may occur if storms intensify
• Flash flooding of streets, creeks, and streams is a concern
• Urban flooding possible, especially along the I-96 corridor

⛈️ Wednesday
• Additional rounds of strong storms and heavy rainfall are possible

🌊 River Flooding Concerns
• Grand River rising again, may exceed flood stage later this week
• Muskegon River expected to reach moderate to major flood levels
• Continued rainfall will worsen flooding conditions

🌊WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

📍WHERE...A portion of south central Michigan, including the following counties, Eaton and Ingham.

⏰WHEN...Until 3:00 PM EDT.

⚠️IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

➕ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At 9:00 AM EDT, reliable reports have been received of heavy rain in the advisory area. Several road closures and flooded roadways have been reported across Ingham and Eaton Counties. Total rainfall of 1.5-2.5 inches has been observed with up to 1 inch of additional rainfall possible.
