In observance of Juneteenth, all State of Michigan offices, including ours, will be closed on Friday, June 19.
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a time to reflect, honor the resilience of African Americans, and celebrate freedom and progress.
