I am a dedicated wife, mother and public servant who has successfully helped reform the state’s justice system for adults and juveniles alike. I have also championed improvements to local government funding and increased funding to Michigan’s public schools so students are well-prepared for their future and continue to work on policies that reduce racial disparities in health outcomes. g my second term in the Michigan Senate, representing the people of Michigan’s 2nd Senate District, which includes Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, and parts of Allen Park and Detroit. I am very involved in my community, where I support uplifting local organizations and individuals who work hard to make our area the best place to live, work, and play. I am proud of the many cultures across the district and am deeply invested in efforts toward equity for women of color as it relates to businesses, health care, and more. I graduated with a master's in Business Administration and Management from MSU's Eli Broad College of Business and a bachelor’s degree in business from Eastern Michigan University. I reside in Warrendale with my husband, Harvey, and our three children.

Recent deaths in custody within both men's and women's correctional facilities have renewed concerns across our state.

Today I joined my colleagues to stand with families, advocates, and Citizens for Prison Reform to call for stronger oversight in Michigan’s correctional system. HBs 5920 and 5291 are important steps to ensure our corrections systems operate transparently, humanely and accountably.

The time to act is now.

Today, June 12th, is recognized as Women's Veterans Recognition Day.

I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working alongside many of Michigan’s women veterans during my time in the Legislature. Recently, I was honored to have SP4 Sallie Robin Dronse join me at the Capitol for our Memorial Day ceremony. We shared a meaningful morning reflecting on the sacrifice and service of so many.

While each woman veteran has her own unique story, they are united by a shared commitment to protecting our country and serving their communities. I remain committed to making sure they receive the recognition, support, and resources they have earned.
