This page owes everyone a huge apology. I quite erroneously and egregiously claimed that the Cooley-Haze House had been razed. Quite a mistake to make, particularly considering I work in downtown Lansing. Well, it has NOT been razed. I finally took a walk on Malcolm X and took this picture. Still hoping for good things in the future for the house. Please accept my deepest apologies.

From the Preservation Lansing page:

The city will be hosting two open houses at Cooley-Haze House for interested bidders - 10-12 on Friday, April 20, and 10-12 on Saturday, April 21. Please share with anyone who is interested in reviewing the RFP and lets find this beautiful old house a buyer!

Thanks to Lansing voters, the future of the Cooley-Haze House became significantly brighter. Thanks to everyone who voted YES yesterday!

From the Preservation Lansing Instagram account regarding Cooley-Haze: "A "yes" vote on November 7 will allow the City of Lansing the option to sell the 1903 Cooley-Haze House to a private individual or developer. Though that may seem counterintuitive, it is likely the best option for saving the house, as the sale would be restricted by a historic preservation covenant, requiring the rehabilitation of the property according to the Secretary of the Interior's standards."

Update on Cooley-Haze. (Thank you to Cassandra Nelson for the info): The Lansing parks board did discuss Cooley-Haze, but nothing is definitive at this point. The parks board has put together a committee of parks board members and citizens to look at, catalog, and make recommendations on the parks department’s historic resources.

Hello to fans and friends of Lansing's historic Cooley-Haze house. This is a new page designed to be a "bulletin board" of sorts concerning the past, and most importantly, the uncertain future of this historic property. This page is brand-new, so there is still some tweaking to do.
