This past week has been nonstop for our team, but we had to pause and give a huge shoutout to one of our incredible youth ambassadors and leaders, J’Kyla.

On Saturday, we traveled to Detroit for the Governor Candidate Forum in partnership with End Gun Violence Michigan, and J’Kyla showed up with courage and clarity. She spoke on behalf of youth across Michigan, lifting up the urgent need to address gun violence and directly asking candidates what their plans are to keep our young people and our schools safe.

This is what youth leadership looks like. This is what advocacy sounds like.

We’re so proud of you, J’Kyla. Keep leading. Keep pushing. Keep shining.

This past Friday’s PPM meeting was a powerful one.

We were excited to welcome Maya from End Gun Violence Michigan , who came through to talk with our youth about the Governor’s Candidate Forum and why their voices matter.

After the discussion, our youth and adult supporters jumped into a text campaign and together they sent 400+ messages out into the community. Their commitment continues to inspire.

As a celebration of their hard work, all youth participants received prizes, including fragrance sets, gift cards, and Crocs charms. A meaningful and motivating day for everyone involved.

Proud of this team and the energy they bring every time. 🎉🎉

📣 Last night, PPM youth showed up POWERFULLY at the Lansing City Council meeting!

After weeks of research, learning, and strategy sessions, our young leaders took the mic to speak out against the proposed data center and to demand real accountability from the City of Lansing, BWL, and Deep Green.

They urged Council to vote NO on bringing Deep Green to Lansing and pushed hard for a legally binding Community Benefit Agreement if the proposal moves forward. One that protects our neighborhoods, our environment, and our future.

They highlighted the environmental, economic, and health harms tied to data centers and made it clear:
Youth deserve transparency. Youth deserve protection. Youth deserve a voice.

We’re so proud of how they uplifted their voices not just for themselves, but for other young people and the entire community. This is what youth power looks like. ✊🏽💛

Our PPM youth showed up with so much love, intention, and brilliance during our Black History Month activity.

They researched, created, and shared spotlights on Black leaders who shaped movements, built culture, and opened doors for generations. Their reflections remind us that Black history isn’t just something we look back on, it’s a living force that guides how we build community, fight for justice, and imagine what’s possible.

The video we’re sharing today features one of our PPM members Jeremiah Henry performing an original poem inspired by Black History Month. A powerful reminder of how creativity and history come together in the hands of our youth.

This Black History Month🖤❤️💚, PPM youth are honoring the leaders who shaped our past and continue to inspire our future. Each week, our members are choosing a Black historical figure — past or present — and creating a spotlight that lifts up their legacy, their values, and the lessons they leave for our organizing today.

Tonight at Peace, Prosperity Youth Action Movement, we talked about an important petition to support our immigrant neighbors. The Michigan Supreme Court is considering a rule that would protect people from being arrested at state courthouses for civil immigration issues unless there’s a valid warrant.

Everyone deserves to go to court without fear of being taken from their families. This rule will help keep our courts safe, fair, and accessible to all.

✨ GAME NIGHT RECAP! ✨

Game Night at One Love Global was a HUGE success! 🎉 Thank you to everyone who came out, showed love, played games, ate good food, vibed to the music, and made the whole event such a fun and positive experience. 💛

From intense gaming battles 🎮 to raffles, prizes 🏆, and plenty of laughs, the energy was perfect from start to finish. And the free food definitely didn’t miss! 🍕🔥

Big shoutout to the organizers and volunteers for putting this together and creating a safe, fun space for the community. 🙌
