When the call for help goes out, responds! Thanks to all of our Members who helped the City of Sturgis recover from a severe storm.

The City of Sturgis would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their support and efforts to restore power and assist with clean up for our electric utility customers. When severe weather hits and outages like this occur the way utility companies come together is quite incredible. We extend our deepest gratitude to our mutual aid partners who helped during this outage, working day in and day out alongside our team to clear trees, debris, repair power lines, and restore power to our customers. Your hard work and dedication is something we are all very thankful for.

Congratulations to MMEA Member Grand Haven Board of Light & Power! They are celebrating 130 years of serving their community.

America is celebrating a historic 250-year anniversary, and here at the BLP, we’re proud to mark 130 years of service to our community.

To honor this special moment, we’ve created a new commemorative emblem that ties these milestones together reflecting both pride in our country and our commitment to providing one of life’s most essential needs: reliable power.

The history of the Board of Light and Power is a powerful story of community determination and local control. It serves as a reminder of how important it is for a community to shape its own future, especially when it comes to something as vital as electricity.

Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing highlights of our community’s powerful journey and showcasing how far we’ve come in maintaining ownership and stewardship of our electric utility.

Following last night's storm, CBPU is proud to provide mutual aid assistance to the City of Sturgis as crews worked to restore power and address storm-related damage.

Seven crew members responded with a bucket truck and other support vehicles to assist restoration efforts. Their work is helping Sturgis crews safely and efficiently restore service to affected residents and businesses.

Mutual aid is an important part of the public power community. When severe weather impacts one community, neighboring utilities step up to help.

A great opportunity to join the BLP team! Join our team as a Journeyman Tree Trimmer and play a critical role in maintaining safe and reliable electrical utility infrastructure.

In this position, you will perform skilled tree trimming and vegetation management operations around energized power lines and utility rights-of-way, using specialized equipment and industry-approved safety practices. Your expertise will help prevent service interruptions, protect public safety, and support the integrity of the electrical distribution system.
