House Republicans won't let us talk about Trump's war in Iran (Seriously. They cut off one of my colleagues mid-speech just for mentioning it). And they certainly won't stop him.

So instead of owning the damage Trump's war is doing to your wallet, Republicans are blaming the same clean energy law that's actually keeping your utility bills down.

I voted no on Project Lighthouse. We're not going backwards.

Yesterday’s Supreme Court completed its years-long project of dismantling the architecture that protects Black voters from discriminatory maps.

Michigan can’t fix what the Court broke nationwide. But we can build our own firewall.

When Democrats control the legislature next year, we need to immediately pass the Michigan Voting Rights Act.

We owe it to every community that this Court just abandoned.

Receiving this year's Honors Legislator Award from NAMI Michigan is a humbling reminder of why this work matters. NAMI is a genuine grassroots force, present in every state, rooted in more than 1,000 local communities. And their tireless advocacy for people affected by mental illness has shaped what good policy in this space can look like.

The real credit belongs to the constituents, behavioral health providers, and community organizations who have brought their lived experiences into our policy conversations. Their voices are what drive efforts to close gaps in behavioral health services and reduce the strain on emergency departments that have become a default safety net for people in crisis.

There is still significant work ahead. I remain committed to the collaboration that makes progress possible and to ensuring every Michigander has access to care that is equitable, meaningful, and humane.

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Forgotten Harvest. Seeing firsthand how their team rescues surplus food and gets it to Michigan families who need it most is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when compassion meets action.

Thank you to the staff and volunteers who show up every day to make a difference. I’m grateful for the chance to learn more and support this incredible mission.
