Each year, the State Librarian’s Excellence Award is given to a library (public, academic, school, special, tribal, etc,) who exemplifies excellence in customer service. Thank you to The Mendel Family Fund for sponsoring this annual award in honor of the late June Mendel, a former library director. Applications for 2026 can be submitted through August 28. Join us as we attend the Library of Michigan‘s free showing of the movie Old Heart, tomorrow night - Thursday, May 14 from 6:30 - 9:00 pm in the Forum Auditorium of the Michigan Library and Historical Center in Lansing. Old Heart was partially filmed in MI and there will be a Q&A including the MI Veterans Affairs Agency Director as well as the filmmaker, director, and lead actor. LMF will be drawing winners for copies of the book which inspired the film. Learn more through the Library of Michigan.
