I have followed on my personal page since they came out, before they were in major stores and retailers. A few months ago, I bought a few sets to trial at home before introducing them here .emerging.parent and lived them. This week I picked them up in a great sale and I’m so excited to have this unique loose parts play material available for you to explore.

I think this will be a favorite toy for adults too- that is what I always say is how you can tell a REALLY great toys- adults want to play too.

While this material is marketed for 3d building…I wanted to trial it out on our magnet boards for surface work (because our crowd is younger) and I think they are so so cool.

we would love to get more of your products in our play studio in the future. 🥰🥰🥰🫶🏼

On Friday January 30th folks are organizing a nationwide shutdown to protest ICE, call for Abolishing ICE, and getting ICE out of communities.

We have considered the best way to serve our clients as a community space and honor our business values and beliefs that no human is illegal.

We believe in human rights, child rights, and that parenting has always been political.

As a show of support for our neighbors in Minneapolis and across the country impacted by ICE we will hold NO COST open play hubs. We have 20 slots available to families tomorrow for free to join us to Gather, Parent, Play, and Resist in community.

Join us in community at 9am-10:30 overlapping with a 10-11:30 session.

Snack and open play is on us.

We plan to have QR codes available to make it easy to provide donations to organizations working to support those impacted by ICE. This is not a requirement. We will be so happy to have you in.

And- we are hoping to put together a little activist art to take home as well.

**Please note: pre-registration and Sign up is still required due to our waivers and community agreements.

As I was playing alongside my kids this holiday, legos reminded me of the dilemma we so often face in parenting these days. Structure vs. flow. Guidance vs. intuition.

In the information overload we face, there seems to be a constant struggle to find the balance between following the advice and input from parenting research, experts, grandparents, and peers vs. leaning into our gut and seeing the parts of the child in front of us.

Think to yourself the next time you find a hard parenting moment…is it the time or place to seek a guide and map…or is it time to examine what’s in front of you and lean into your gut.

Both are valid in play and parenting.

Let me know in the comments. During play do you find more ease with legos/duplos when it’s open ended or when there are step by step instructions?

We are glad to share with you the new address for The Emerging Parent.

4625 WILLOUGHBY RD. HOLT, MI 48842

We have our own first floor entrance, bathroom, and 4 spaces to enjoy at our new site.

We knew our current space was temporary and had been looking for the right fit for a while as we vetted our options and future plans. This location allows us to increase our offerings as we grow and we can’t wait to get our space ready to welcome our TEP fam.

I loved being at and am so thankful to Amy and her team for helping us feel at home while we have been there. My kids love dancing two nights a week at their studio, and while we will no longer call fusion TEP’s dance home, it is our dance home.

It will take extra time to get our play studio and party room ready for open play, but we have every intention of having our classroom and bathroom ready for classes to begin as scheduled on the 15th!

Fall classes enrolling now. Grab your spot!

Expect 45 minute classes that include play, music, movement, and facilitated parent connection.

Classes are a fantastic way to get to know a group of families, form relationships, talk about parenting highs and lows, and really get a sense of parenting in community and all the magic it brings being guided by an early childhood parenting educator and coach.

She is trained in early intervention, routines based interventions, parent coaching, home visiting, and developmental guidance. Miranda is a Lansing parent to two growing kids age 5 and 7 whom she homeschools alongside running the business of The Emerging Parent.

For a full session enrollment, classes are only $15 each class of Fall 1, full session cost varies based on weeks the class runs.

If there is space available, drop in enrollment will begin after September 14th, individual class drop ins are $21.
