Community Resiliency Project

Description: This project/program was developed out of ongoing conversations between the founders of OrganizingTogether and The Fledge. Our mission is to create an alternative pathway to community resilience and sustainability that takes into account the weaknesses made apparent by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The foundational principles empowering this project/program are Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and principles of abundance. Our quest combines empirical research with human experience and perceptions that shape the likelihood of normative behavioral changes and the formation of a true community identity. We plan on building trust through restorative justice to those who have historically been left out of decision making processes, a curriculum that focuses on DIY sustainable energy, food security, and waste management for families, tenants, and others who do not have the resources or access in times of crises.

This project/program brings together technical experts in engineering, sustainable development, environmental science, technology, and social justice, along with a network of businesses, nonprofits, and governmental agencies to reform and reimagine the capacity of our community to deal with internal and external threats and shocks.

All our meetings are recorded and publicly available as this project is under the auspices of every individual in the Lansing community.
