Busy week in Lansing! It’s always an honor to host constituents and advocates at the Capitol to share stories and push for the changes our community deserves.

It was great to connect with the Washtenaw County Office of Community & Economic Development to talk about the vital work they do, from senior meal programs to weatherization services.

I also sat down with local advocates for Cancer Action Day to discuss our shared priorities in the fight against cancer.

During the Sierra Club’s lobby day, we dug into how we can build a greener future through community solar and responsible energy policy.

Finally, I was grateful to meet with LGBTQ+ constituents and allies to talk about protecting transgender health care and ensuring every person in our state can live with dignity.

These conversations are exactly how we build a Michigan that works for everyone. Thank you to everyone who made the trip to share your voice!

The 187-acre Concordia property is one of the last large pieces of open land in Ann Arbor. How it’s used will shape our community for generations. That’s why I joined the Washtenaw County Legislative Delegation in urging the Board of Regents to reject U-M's proposed purchase.

If this land goes to the University, it stays permanently tax-exempt, shrinking our local tax base and shifting the financial burden onto everyday homeowners, renters, and small businesses. This poses a serious problem during an intense housing and cost-of-living crisis.

U-M is a valued institution, but we believe this is an irresponsible decision that disregards the needs of this community.

Very cool!

Growing up, Mikala Sposito, from Dexter, dreamed of being a trailblazer. That dream is about to be realized.

Thank you to the Washtenaw County Representatives that took time this morning to meet with our bargaining team members and discuss the important issues we still have on the table. We appreciate you and will see you this Sunday at our picket! 💪

This last Wednesday, House Democrats and Republicans played our 4th Annual Legislative Softball game! Democrats 13 Republicans 10!

More importantly than a bipartisan night of fun, this night raised over $10,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing.

Michigan House Republicans just passed an energy plan that would raise costs for working families and make our already fragile power grid even less dependable.

Meanwhile, House Democrats are focused on tackling the affordability crisis from every angle — including diversifying our energy sources to help bring down utility costs and strengthen energy reliability.

Instead of building on that progress, Republicans are moving Michigan backwards while cheering on the same policies driving up prices at the pump.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our community conversation today in Plymouth! It was great to hear your thoughts and concerns and to provide an update on what’s happening in the state legislature. A special thanks to Northville Board of Education Treasurer Lisa McIntyre for joining us!

Right now, thousands of Michiganders are worried about whether they will be able to keep seeing their doctors, continue treatment, or afford the care they depend on.

That is unacceptable.

My legislative colleagues and I sent a letter to the leadership of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Michigan Medicine regarding their ongoing contract negotiations, along with our continued push over the last several weeks.

People should not be caught in the middle of this dispute. Families navigating cancer treatment, chronic illness, surgeries, mental healthcare, and everyday medical needs deserve certainty and peace of mind, not fear and confusion.

We urge both parties to negotiate in good faith, limit conducting negotiations through public statements, and keep patients’ care, access, and affordability front and center.

Michiganders deserve affordable, reliable healthcare and the confidence that the institutions they rely on are putting patient care first.
