Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our state and nation, while also recognizing those who continue to answer the call whenever and wherever they are needed. The Michigan National Guard has been there for our communities during emergencies, natural disasters and overseas deployments, demonstrating professionalism, courage and selfless service. More than 4,500 Michigan Army National Guard Soldiers are training across the state as part of annual training, sharpening the skills needed to support missions at home and abroad.

From weapons qualification and aviation operations to engineering, logistics and communications, Soldiers are building readiness and strengthening teamwork at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, Fort Custer Training Center and other training locations throughout Michigan.

"Annual training is critical to ensuring our Soldiers, leaders and units remain ready, capable and prepared to respond whenever called upon," said U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul D. Rogers, adjutant general and director of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

The training concludes June 12 with the Michigan National Guard's annual Pass in Review Ceremony, honoring achievements, outstanding service and the legacy of those who served before us.

This is a huge win for Michigan and our national security.

Selfridge has long played a critical role in protecting our country, supporting service members and military families, and strengthening Michigan’s economy.

This bill is proof that when we work across the aisle and find common ground, we can do anything.
