🚒 Bath Township Fire Department: Topic of the Day – Keeping Our Children Safe in Vehicles 🚨

At Bath Township Fire Department, ensuring the safety of our community's children is at the heart of what we do. Today’s Topic of the Day highlights two essential products designed to protect our youngest and most vulnerable passengers, providing first responders with the crucial information they need when every second counts.

1. Autism Awareness Seat Belt Cover
In the event of a vehicle accident, children with autism or other special needs may react differently, making it essential for first responders to have immediate access to important information. The Autism Awareness Seat Belt Cover is designed to do just that. By attaching this cover to your child's seat belt, you communicate vital details—alerting responders that the child may be non-verbal, resistant to instructions, or might attempt to flee. This quick identification allows our team to respond with the care, understanding, and specialized attention that your child needs in a stressful situation.

2. Roth ID Medical Tags – A Universal Emergency Contact Solution for All Ages
The Roth ID Tag™ is a versatile and universal emergency contact identification system that can be attached to any car seat, stroller, or even a backpack. Although it’s designed for everyone, from infants to the elderly, its primary focus is to ensure that our youngest passengers are always protected. These tags provide instant access to crucial medical and emergency contact information, ensuring that first responders can act quickly and accurately. Whether it's an infant in a car seat or a child with a medical condition, the Roth ID Tag™ offers peace of mind that in an emergency, the right care will be delivered without delay.

As today’s Topic of the Day, we strongly encourage parents and caregivers in Bath Township to consider these products for their vehicles. Protecting our children is not just about being prepared—it’s about ensuring that in critical moments, our first responders have all the information they need to keep your loved ones safe.

Due to the closure of Webster Road until July 4th, our response times to I-69 and the southern part of the township have been impacted. To address this, our department has been actively strategizing internally and coordinating efforts with Mercy Ambulance, the DeWitt Township Fire Department, LSW Emergency Services, and the Meridian Township Fire Department. Here are the steps taken to ensure effective response to EMS and fire service calls:

🚒An emergency vehicle pathway has been established around the construction zone and will be used based on call priority and information relayed from Clinton County, Michigan 911 - Central Dispatch.

🚒For any vehicle accidents or vehicle fires on I-69, an immediate mutual aid request for apparatus and personnel from the DeWitt Township Fire Department and/or LSW Emergency Services will likely be initiated. Both departments remain on our initial alarm for all structure fires throughout the township.

🚒For any structure fires south of the road closure, an immediate mutual aid request for apparatus and personnel from Meridian Township Fire Department will likely be initiated.

Partnerships are key! We appreciate the support of our neighboring departments as we navigate this road project.

Our Story

Mercy Ambulance was established in 1955 in Lansing, MI by Rodney E. Palmer. Mr. Palmer was highly involved in the evolution of emergency medical services for the State of Michigan as we continue to know it today. Mr. Palmer contributed largely giving input to the state of Michigan on the first EMS legislation establishing the basic emergency standards we still see in EMS today.

Mercy Ambulance provides advanced life support (ALS) services throughout the Tri-County Medical Control Region that includes Clinton, Ingham and Eaton counties. This includes providing 911 services to the City of Dewitt, Dewitt Charter Township, Riley, Olive, Victor and Bath townships. We also provide these services in Barry county to the City of Hastings and Hope, Carlton, Rutland, Irving, and Baltimore townships

In addition to 911 coverage, we also offer a variety of non-emergent transport options. Some examples include to and from dialysis, hospital to hospital, doctors appointments and out of state transport. Our Amb-U-Cab vans are specially equipped with wheelchair lifts and safety restraint systems keeping our patients comfortable and safe.
