Today we pause to reflect on the tragic events of 25 years ago. We remember the 343 firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice that day along with the thousands of other lives lost. We want to thank the Reserve at Gwynedd for inviting us to participate in their 9/11 remembrance event and we also want to thank Worcester Volunteer Fire Department for flying the colors 🇺🇸 with us over Sumneytown Pike during the Township Carnival this evening.

Matthew Tomczak, son of past Chief Jeff Tomczak, created a beautiful tribute to those lost on 9/11/2001 at North Montco TCC where he attends the welding program. We are proud of you, Matthew, and your determination to make sure those who lost their lives serving are never forgotten. 🖤❤️🖤 🐢

We are less than 48 hours away from Upper Gwynedd Township Annual Carnival! We can’t wait to see you! Come see us for our famous Walking Tacos. Fireworks are scheduled for Friday night, drone show Saturday night and your favorite firefighters will be around every day! All parking proceeds benefit our station. This past Monday, our crews continued their annual vehicle rescue refresher training.

During Week 1, our members focused on vehicle familiarization, cribbing, and stabilization techniques. In Week 2, we advanced into basic vehicle extrication techniques.

This week, we were pleased to welcome VMSC Emergency Medical Services to join us for training. Working alongside our extrication teams, EMS emphasized the importance of a patient-first approach during vehicle rescue operations.

This approach focuses on providing continuous patient care inside the vehicle while fire crews work to safely and efficiently remove the vehicle from around the patient.

Training alongside our mutual-aid partners allows us to strengthen our skills, improve communication, and ensure we are prepared to work together when the call comes in.

A special thank-you to our EMS partners at 345 for joining us and helping make this training a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.

What NOT to do: While operating at the fire on Barry Ave on Sunday, someone ran over our supply line. Fire hose, while very durable, is NOT meant to hold the weight of a car. It is made of rubber with aluminum connections between sections. It can be easily cut by the metal edges under a car. Supply line connects a fire truck to a water source; either a hydrant or another truck. On the far other end of this set up is someone’s son or daughter, someone’s mother or father, and OUR brother or sister! This decision could have taken away their line of defense against the flames. This could have been a catastrophic event for our brothers on the other end Sunday evening. Luckily it was not. This hose now has to be taken out of service and professionally inspected for damages. Please don’t do this!

On Sunday, August 16, 2026 at approximately 5:45pm, the Upper Gwynedd Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Bradford Ln and Barry Ave for smoke in the area. Prior to units responding, the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety received multiple calls for a house on fire on the 100blk of Barry Ave.
Multiple units from the UGFD and surrounding agencies quickly responded to the incident and brought the fire under control within 15 minutes from units arriving on scene. The swift work from intial companies were able to prevent the fire from causing damage to neighboring homes.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Marshal’s Office.

Brotherhood: Shared Fellowship. A strong sense of unity, trust, and care between people.

On Saturday, we met in the spirit of brotherhood to remember our friend and brother, Jeff Tomczak. Station 80 gathered with 177th Fighter Wing, NJANG, the unit that Jeff served with, for a friendly game of softball in his memory. A high scoring game filled with laughs brought forth a new tradition to remember our friend and colleague by.

A huge thank you to Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball Assn for allowing us to use the field Saturday morning!
