I want to thank my fellow residents of district 4 of Prince George’s County. I am immensely grateful to the families, friends, and loyal supporters who so generously contributed their money, time and effort to our campaign during this very long primary season due to the pandemic.

Being an effective education board member involves listening to constituents, translating their concerns into workable proposals, and building consensus to implement them. No one could do this job without the involvement and openness of the people they represent. You have taken the time to share with me your ideas, your concerns, and your aspirations, and I sincerely appreciate your willingness to discuss what really matters to you. Therefore, it is vital for whoever gets to represent us, listens to the thousands plus who voiced their concern at the ballot box.

We can’t continuously see graduation rate that is 78% with overcrowded classrooms that are less equipped with the resources necessary to compete in the 21st century. Mediocracy is not an option. Our students and families deserve better.

Our work does not end here. I have learned the importance of being civically involved for the benefit of my community. I hope you will make the same commitment to stay involved now that the election is over.

We've challenged the status quo and let the residents of this wonderful district and the county know that we can do better than what we have now.

The journey is almost over.

To decrease 📉 the drop-out rate and increase 📈 achievement, we must work together with parents for student success and to become student-centered. I would create mentorship programs where teachers can sign up to mentor seniors and help them make plans to graduate on time and transition to college or employment after graduation. 🎓

Former NEA President, Dennis Van Roekel has it right 👏 when he said, "Meaningful reductions in class sizes have been difficult to achieve because of tight school budgets and competing priorities, but we must continue towards this goal. The proven long-term benefits of reducing class sizes—achievement gains and higher graduation rates—should help determine our priorities. Large class sizes don't benefit 🙅‍♂️ anyone.

Teachers become overwhelmed and kids become disengaged 😞 The NEA recommends class sizes of 15 or lower and there are proven strategies that work in implementing this. As a doctor of education, I have a unique background and have conducted thousands of hours of research to ensure we can implement such policies.
