BLACK BEARS ARE WAKING UP! PLEASE SECURE YOUR ANIMALS & FEED

Help us keep wild things wild!

As spring approaches, Massachusetts black bears are emerging from hibernation and will immediately begin searching for high‑calorie foods. Unfortunately, that often leads them straight to backyards where chickens, small livestock, bird feeders, open grain bins, feed sheds, and pet food left outdoors all become tempting treats.

Now is the perfect time act on these simple ways to reduce bear conflicts and help keep both wildlife and our own animals safe:

✔ Remove bird feeders
Bears key in on easy calories. Taking feeders down in early spring is one of the most effective ways to prevent visits.

✔ Secure all animal feed
Store chicken feed, grain, and pet food in bear‑resistant containers or inside sturdy buildings.

✔ Inspect and repair fencing
Winter can damage poultry fencing, livestock enclosures and electric fence lines
Ensure all parts are intact and that electric fencing is functioning properly before bears begin roaming widely.

✔ Protect your animals
Consider locking chickens and small livestock in secure nighttime enclosures and using electric fencing around coops or pens.

Attention everyone this dog has been reunited back to family. Thank you for all those who share the post.

It’s 4:10am and I’m very puzzled. On why know-one has claimed this dog. It has been missing now for-three days. This dog is well groomed fed well and has nice personality. My thoughts are #1 may be owner is ill and doesn’t realize the dog is gone #2 someone may have picked it up got nervous and dumped on the side of the road. Well it 4:10am so I’m going to take a short rest and try to figure out what we should do.👍
