Florida State University’s DeVoe L. Moore Center (DMC) has partnered with the Florida Policy Project and the Reason Foundation to tackle Florida’s housing crisis in an innovative way. 

This initiative has resulted in an interactive, data-driven website for people to study trends in housing, including local housing trends, shortages in specific housing units and changes in local markets. 

“Currently, housing shortage and surplus trends are the key draw for users of the website. When home or rental prices are high, one of the first actionable steps local governments can take is to make sure there is enough housing inventory available,” Crystal Taylor, director of research for the DeVoe L. Moore Center, said to the FSView.

RIP Jamie Ross. Legend.

In memory of Jaimie Ross, former President and CEO of the Florida Housing Coalition and a steadfast leader in the advancement of affordable housing in Florida.

Throughout her distinguished career, Jaimie was a tireless advocate for the Sadowski Trust Funds, dedicating herself to educating policymakers and the public on their critical role in expanding housing opportunities. Her expertise, leadership, and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact on the affordable housing landscape.

Florida Housing is profoundly grateful for Jaimie’s enduring vision, leadership, and partnership. Her contributions have strengthened the housing community across the state, and her legacy will continue to shape housing opportunities for years to come.

We honor her memory and the transformative work she led in pursuit of housing for all Floridians.

We are excited to celebrate the groundbreaking of Windmill Farms, a new affordable housing community coming soon to Miami-Dade County Government

To support construction efforts, Florida Housing awarded Windmill Farms with an annual allocation of just over $3.7 million in 4% housing tax credits, which will translate into approximately $35.7 million in equity. This project was also awarded $10.6 million in SAIL funding, including $4.3 million from our Construction Inflation Response Program, otherwise known as CHIRP.

Once construction is complete, Windmill Farms will provide 274 families with a place to call home. 100% of these rental units have been set aside as affordable, and 95% will go towards families earning 60% area median income (AMI) or below. For a family of 4 in Miami-Dade that is less than $59,000 a year.
