Andrew Davidson can be seen here standing in front of his pharmacy in Downtown Lancaster. Davidson was a doctor who served in the Civil War and earned the Medal of Honor during the conflict. You can hear more about his story on the "History Underfoot Trail" in Downtown Lancaster.

As we celebrate America 250 in 2026, we will be sharing photos from our archive. Follow along for more!

Scipio Smith Day (May 29, 2026) will look a little different this year!
We are asking everyone to be involved in a DAY OF ACTION. Nothing major - just simple acts - fill up a blessing box or a little library near you. Let's come together in Scipio's honor and help the community.

Scipio's mission was to help the less fortunate, educate the uneducated and work to make our community a better place for everyone. Please consider taking just a few minutes of your day on Friday, May 29 to celebrate Scipio's legacy and support those less fortunate in our area.

*If you would prefer, you can bring canned goods to the FCHA Office on Friday, May 29 from 10am-4pm. We are located at the back of the Georgian Museum.

Memorial Day | 5.25.2026
A day to remember the ones who didn't make it home. One of those men is Henry Giesy, a Civil War soldier who died in combat.

You can learn about his story on the "Stones & Stories Trail" located at Elmwood Cemetery. Today is the perfect day to visit a cemetery and honor the legacy of some of these amazing people!
