Extreme Cold Weather Safety Tips ❄️
With the wind chill temperatures being below zero the next few days, be sure to take extra precaution to keep yourself safe.

Dress for the weather
• Layer up with warm, dry clothing.
• Cover exposed skin—gloves, hats, scarves, and warm boots are essential.
• Avoid cotton; it absorbs moisture and makes you colder.

Watch for frostbite & hypothermia
• Frostbite signs: numbness, white or grey-yellow skin, firm or waxy feeling.
• Hypothermia signs: shivering, confusion, slurred speech, drowsiness.
• Seek shelter and medical help if symptoms appear.

Protect your home & vehicle
• Keep your gas tank at least half full.
• Check that your furnace vents and chimneys are clear of
snow and ice.

Plan ahead
• Limit time outdoors during extreme cold alerts.
• Bring pets inside—if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
• Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle.

Look out for others
• Check on neighbors, seniors, and anyone who may need support during harsh weather.

Stay warm, stay safe, and please take care of yourselves and each other in this weather!
