🏡 Understanding your property tax bill should be simple! Here is a quick look at where your money goes in Lancaster.

Under Proposition 13, base property tax is capped at 1%. Lancaster receives just 6.7% of that base, about $67 for every $1,000 collected, to fund public safety, road repairs, and parks. The rest supports local schools, Los Angeles County, and regional agencies.

Your bill covers three key areas:
- General Tax Levy: The standard 1& base tax
- Voted Indebtedness: Voter-approved bonds for local schools
- Direct Assessments: Fees for specific services like trash, lighting, and sanitation

Lancaster Vice Mayor Lauren Hughes-Leslie and Councilmembers Ken Mann and Rocio Castellanos joined officers from the Lancaster Police Department to attend the Antelope Valley 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Antelope Valley Mall.

On this milestone 25th anniversary, our regional public safety partners and community members gathered to honor the fallen heroes, first responders and innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001. We stand together as an Antelope Valley community in honoring their memory and legacy.

Mayor R. Rex Parris and the City Council officially proclaimed September 15 through October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in Lancaster, joining the nation in honoring the rich history and vibrant cultures of our Hispanic and Latino communities.

To launch this celebration, Councilmembers joined SALVA on Saturday for “Celebrating Our Heritage, Defending Our Community”. This festive afternoon on The BLVD brought the community together with a lively parade, folklorico performances, live music, art, and local food.

All month long, we recognize the impact our Hispanic residents, leaders, and businesses have on making Lancaster a great place to live. Join us in celebrating Hispanic heritage!

140 youth soccer teams visited the Lancaster National Soccer Center for three days of competition this summer, playing approximately 220 games during the 2026 LA Cup from July 31 through August 2. ⚽

But the impact didn’t stop on the field. As athletes, coaches, families, and fans stayed in local hotels, grabbed meals at Lancaster restaurants, filled up their cars, and shopped around town, their visits helped generate an estimated $2.1 million for our local economy. 💰

That’s the power of sports tourism: bringing great competition to Lancaster while supporting local businesses and showcasing our community to visitors from across the region.

And at the center of it all is the Lancaster National Soccer Center—serving our local athletes year-round while giving Lancaster the ability to welcome major tournaments like the LA Cup.
