🚒 A new tool is helping us get help where it’s needed—faster.

As of September 1, Pleasant Township Fire Department, along with fire departments throughout Fairfield County, has transitioned to Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) dispatching.

So what does that mean for you?

In an emergency, sometimes the closest available fire or EMS unit isn’t sitting inside the jurisdiction where the call occurs. It may already be on the road, returning from another call, or simply closer to you than the unit at your local station.

AVL allows dispatchers to see where available emergency apparatus are in real time. For high-priority emergencies, that information can be used to get the closest appropriate resources headed your way.

And when we’re talking about a cardiac arrest or another life-threatening emergency, minutes—and even seconds—matter.

This doesn’t change who your fire department is. Pleasant Township equipment will continue to be dispatched to calls within our jurisdiction. What it does change is our ability to work even more efficiently with our neighboring departments when getting additional help there sooner could make a difference.

Fire and EMS have always relied on teamwork and mutual aid. AVL simply gives us better technology to support that teamwork.

We’re excited to see Fairfield County continue investing in technology that helps all of us provide better service to the people we protect.

A huge thank you to the Village of Pleasantville Pool staff for inviting us to be part of Hot Dogs with Heroes today!

We had such a wonderful time meeting so many families, talking about fire safety and spending time with our amazing community. Events like these are a great reminder that building relationships outside of emergencies is just as important as responding when people need us.

A special thank you as well for the tasty lunch and your incredible hospitality. We truly appreciate all the hard work that goes into organizing events like this.

We're grateful for the opportunity to serve our community, and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon. 🚒🌭

Air quality in Central Ohio has reached hazardous levels due to wildfire smoke from Canada.

Smoke from these wildfires contains fine particles that can affect everyone's health, especially children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.

To protect yourself and your loved ones:
• Stay indoors as much as possible and keep windows and doors closed.

• Run your air conditioner on recirculate if possible and use a clean air filter.

• Avoid strenuous outdoor activities, including exercise, yard work, and prolonged time outside.

• If you must be outdoors, consider wearing a well-fitted N95 mask to help filter fine smoke particles.

• Keep pets indoors as much as possible and limit outdoor walks.

• If you experience chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe coughing, or worsening asthma symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. Call 911 for life-threatening emergencies.

Continue monitoring local air quality conditions, as smoke levels can change throughout the day.

This is an exciting step forward as we continue investing in the future of our department and the safety of the community we proudly serve.

Adding these firefighters strengthens our ability to respond to emergencies, improves staffing, enhances training opportunities, and helps ensure we can continue providing the highest level of service to our residents and visitors.
