Every Wednesday this month, Matt and Amanda are out meeting with landowners, walking their properties and looking closely at resource concerns that can be addressed through conservation planning.

Look at these cute farm animals we met today — always a fun bonus during field visits!

If you haven’t submitted your EQIP or CSP application, no worries — the deadline is September 30. There’s still time to get signed up and start the conservation process.

USDA‑NRCS engineers were on site today at the 10D Bear Creek plunge basin, surveying the area so we can move forward with critical repairs.

This isn’t just routine maintenance — it’s part of protecting one of Lancaster County’s most important resources: our flood‑control lakes.

Lancaster County’s watershed lakes play a huge role in keeping our communities safe. They slow down stormwater, reduce downstream flooding, protect roads and homes, and help stabilize the landscape during heavy rain events. When a plunge basin begins to fail, the entire system is put at risk — erosion increases, water flow becomes unpredictable, and long‑term damage can spread quickly.

That’s why this project matters. Repairing the 10D Bear Creek plunge basin strengthens the whole watershed, protects local infrastructure, and ensures these lakes continue doing what they were built to do: safeguard people, farms, and communities across Lancaster County.

We’re grateful for our partnership with USDA‑NRCS and excited to see this work moving forward.
