The Lancaster Police Department proudly serves the Town of Lancaster, a community of 45,106 residents (as of the 2020 census). Lancaster is a suburb of the city of Buffalo, NY. The Department currently has 52 sworn officers and 15 civilian employees. In addition to our uniformed Patrol division, we have several specialized units, including a Detective Bureau, Emergency Response Team, Accident Investigation Unit and three School Resource Officers. The current Chief of Police is William J. The Lancaster Police Department is a New York State Department of Criminal Justice Accredited agency. Mission Statement
The Lancaster Police Department endeavors to provide the community with a safe and thriving environment by deterring and effectively responding to disorder, problematic conditions and crime. The women and men of the Lancaster Police Department shall respect and protect the rights of individuals and act in collaboration with, and for the benefit of, the public. They are expected to serve with courage, professionalism and sound judgment.

Public Announcement: NYSEG will be checking power lines in areas of Erie County and Niagara County between 8/25 - 9/4/26. You may see a low flying blue and white helicopter with tail # N601CC checking the power lines.

Second and final week of the Lancaster Police Junior Academy. A sum of all the activities conducted throughout the week included training with the following:

Erie County Sheriff’s Dept dive team, aviation unit, bomb squad, K-9 unit and tactical medics.

NFTA K9 training

Training with town of Lancaster Detectives.

Training with the FBI.

All the kids graduated from the program today. We wish them all success with all their future careers and endeavors. Have a great and safe summer.
