Keystone Star Hotel

Keystone Star Hotel In 1856, J.L.N. Gracy, one of Lampasas's earliest settlers, built the Star Hotel as the stagecoach stop for the Austin Stage.

A wing of 10 rooms was added in 1870 and an addtional wing was added in 1931. It was renamed the Keystone Hotel in 1926.

You need to see this fabulous documentary, "Lampasas - Hometown Texas", written, filmed, edited, and produced, by Lampasas's own, Jordan and Chase K***r! The response to the packed-house pre-screening at the Depot on Sunday was exceptional! So for those of you who missed it, or those who want to see it on the big screen and in air conditioning, come to the premiere at The Adelphia, this Friday, July 17, at either 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. The K***r's will be there to introduce the film and greet you afterwards if you have questions. Seating is limited so tickets are being sold for only $5 but refreshments are free. The full $5 is dedicated to the restoration of the 4th Street Church project. Hope to see you there!

Are you ready?! We are so excited about the Santa Fe Depot Celebration on Sunday, July 12, from 11 o’clock until 3 o’clock! This is a function for kids of all ages. The passenger portion of the depot will be displaying railroad related artifacts, photographs, and over 350 model railroad pieces.

The Loading Dock Saloon in the freight portion of the depot will be serving wine and beer. But… we are extremely excited about a pre-release viewing of the “Lampasas – Hometown Texas” documentary feature film created by Hollywood veterans, and Lampasas’ own, Chase and Jordan K***r. The show times are at noon and 3:00 in the saloon.

Bring your appetite, because Fritz Cox will be serving BBQ, Mike and Nikki Gill will be cooking and serving pizza, and Bush’s will be serving fresh fried fish.

The kids will be riding around in a Thomas the Tank Engine or bouncing in a jump house. Plus, there will be snow cones.

There will be live music from 1 until 3.

We will also be showing plans for the evolution of the project and how you can be a part of this iconic and historic asset for Lampasas.

So whether you live in Lampasas, are in town for Spring Ho, or just want to come celebrate with us, put it on the calendar.

The Keystone played host this weekend to the Model T Ford Club of San Antonio. What a great time celebrating with cars that were over 100 years old and with friends, new and old, who are much younger.

What a great first day with the Model T Fords! They toured the Keystone, Merritt Roman’s rock museum, relaxed under the massive oak trees at the Adelphia, drove by Silk Stocking Row, checked out the old Hancock Springs Bathhouse and Hostess House, off to the Lampasas Auto Company car museum to meet some other Ts and vehicles, and then enjoyed tacos in Campbell Park by their very own T owner and culinary expert.

And that was all today! Tomorrow we are off to San Saba, Regency Bridge, and wrapping up at Stoneledge Winery around 4:00. Swing by the Keystone before 10 if you want to see them, or join us at Stoneledge for some great music and tasty wine!

Ok Lampasas, here's how you want to spend your Spring Ho Sunday with your kids! Start with a tour inside the historic 1904 Santa Fe Depot. Enjoy an adult beverage while listening to the band from the porch of the Loading Dock Saloon. Grab lunch at one of the dining options and watch your kids ride around in a miniature Thomas the Tank Engine or jump around in a bounce house. And kids of all ages enjoy cooling off with a snow cone.

While you are here, look over the plans for the development of the depot property which include our efforts to bring in a locomotive like the one in the photo which provided passenger service to Lampasas in the late 1940s and 1950s along with dining cars so you can enjoy a special meal in a historic dining car.

Best of all, other than food and beverages, the event is FREE!

Put the date on your calendar today! Sunday, July 12, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. ALL ABOARD!

Needless to say, restoration of the historical assets of Lampasas has been something of a mission since taking on the Keystone Star Hotel in 2017. So when the historic 4th Street Church collapsed in a windstorm in 2019 and the owner was given four days to move everything out before it was going to be bulldozed, Debbie Reynolds made it a goal to not only save it, but transform it from a ruin to a building that could be utilized by the residents of Lampasas for weddings, meetings, concerts, lectures, and more.

As that goal approaches, there is a unique opportunity now for people to participate and have their contribution be a permanent part of the building moving forward to completion. Join Debbie and the Lampasas Heritage Foundation, Inc efforts by sponsoring one of the twenty windows that will soon be installed.
