BIA Forestry and Wildland Fire Management - Northern Cheyenne Agency Northern Cheyenne Agency resources include seven engines, two dozers, one type 2 IA Crew, one to two hand crews, and one shared helicopter.

The Northern Cheyenne Reservation is located in southeastern Montana, east of Crow Reservation and west of the Tongue River. The reservation is approximately 444,871 acres which is predominantly comprised of 432,972 Indian Trust Status Lands. The total land area is evenly divided between the counties of Rosebud and Big Horn. Lame Deer is the largest community or the reservation with a population o

f apprximately 3,000 people. Busby and Birney are other towns on the reservation with a popluation ranging from 500 to 1,500.

[2/3 2:05pm] Warm & dry weather continues thru the weekend, but we are seeing potential changes early next week. In the meantime, with the warm/dry/breezy conditions near the foothills, grass fire potential is elevated so please be sure not to spark a fire.
