📚 Learning Through Literature!
In Ms. Gentles-Harris’s 7th grade classes, scholars explored The Wise Old Woman by Yoshiko Uchida through the lens of persuasive writing and social responsibility.
After reading the story, scholars wrote formal persuasive letters to the young lord, urging him to reconsider his decree to banish elderly citizens. Through this activity, they strengthened their ability to craft persuasive arguments while making meaningful connections between the story’s themes and real-world issues—such as respecting elders, standing up for what is right, and challenging unjust laws.
What a powerful way to turn literature into learning that reaches beyond the classroom! ✍️📖💡

Just a friendly reminder that students must come with their iPads charged at 80% or above daily. We prefer 100%. All students must have access to a certified Apple charger at all times. Students who have lost their original school provided chargers, their parents are advised to store purchase an Apple certified replacement charger for them. We are not selling them at the school level at this time. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Attention SMS scholars and Parents: All students must arrive at school every day with their school-issued iPad fully charged to 80% or above, we prefer 100%—there are absolutely no exceptions.
An uncharged iPad disrupts classroom learning and halts daily instruction. To ensure the safety and functionality of the device, students must use either the original school-issued charger or an official, parent-purchased replacement charger that meets school standards. Personal, unapproved third-party cords that could damage the iPad battery are strictly prohibited. Let’s meet our school goals together! You show your commitment to excellence by walking through the door fully prepared with charged devices and all necessary school supplies. Let's get ready to be successful!

🌍✨ FROM SEED TO TABLE: THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR! ✨🌍Spaulding Middle School has a group of certified green thumbs! 🚀 The brilliant 8th-grade scholars in Mr. David’s science classes got to celebrate a massive milestone this week by finally enjoying the "foods of their labor" from our very own school garden! 🍉🌻🌱Earlier this year, these scholars got their hands dirty by planting seeds for fresh vegetables and beautiful sunflowers. They didn't just plant them and walk away—they used their scientific knowledge to nurture, water, and track the growth of these plants over time. This week came the best part of all: Harvest Time! 🧺🎉Our 8th graders had an absolute blast getting out into the sunshine to:Pick the Crops: Harvesting the fresh vegetables they grew completely from scratch! 🍅🥕Show Off Their Blooms: Proudly displaying the massive, stunning sunflowers that are now lighting up our campus! 🌻💛Enjoy the Feast: Tasting the delicious results of all their hard work and dedication! 😋🥗Through this hands-on project, Mr. David's classes didn't just read about plant biology in a textbook—they lived it! They learned exactly what it takes to cultivate life, sustain an ecosystem, and harvest real, healthy food.We are so incredibly proud of these hardworking scholars and their amazing dedication to making our school a greener, brighter place. Even Ms. Douglas joined in on the fun!Excellent job, Tigers! 🎓🐯 #
