You may have noticed that we didn’t plant flowers in the pots along Main Street this summer. With the Hwy 25/Main Street construction project beginning June 15th, we wouldn’t be able to get our water tank up and down the street to keep them watered.

So, we came up with another idea — displaying barn quilts painted by the talented senior citizens in our community!

And a big THANK YOU to Steve Tarpley for making the brackets to hang them by!

Take some time to enjoy a stroll down Main Street and admire all the beautiful barn quilts. We hope they bring a little extra color and charm to town this summer!

Then sign up at the Kearny County Library to have your sale included on the map for the city-wide garage sale happening June 6th!

You may have heard… 🎉TODAY is the WKCF’s 30th birthday 🎉 !!! In honor of that milestone, we decided to do what we do best, awarding grants to others! Over the next few months, we’ll be distributing some celebratory grants across our service area to organizations we know will work alongside us for the betterment of Southwest Kansas. First stop on the list was to Lakin Community Empowerment Group to provide funding for projects across Kearny County. Congratulations and Happy Birthday to us! 🎂
