Designing a new pool is buckets of fun and Morris the Dragon wants your help!

The City of Lakewood has hired an aquatics design team to help the community design a new Morse Park pool. As the oldest and one of the most popular neighborhood pools in the city, the existing pool is reaching the end of its lifespan and will need to be replaced in the next few years. This design project gives the community an opportunity to design a new pool for the park and provides staff with detailed cost estimates to seek future funding.

Dive right in by taking the Morse Park Pool Survey by Monday, July 13.

Important‼️ As we gear up for the Fourth of July, let’s remember why fireworks are illegal in our city (except for professional shows) and why it’s crucial to abide by this law.
🔥 Fire risk: Fireworks can quickly lead to dangerous fires, especially in a dry climate like ours.
🤕 Public safety: They pose a serious risk of injury to both users and bystanders.
😩 Disturbance of peace: Loud explosions can disturb the peace and affect those sensitive to noise, including pets, veterans and young children.
🐶 Pets and Wildlife: Fireworks can cause immense distress to animals, who can become lost or injured trying to escape the noise.
🇺🇸 Come join us at the Big Belmar Bash instead for an incredible drone show that provides a safe alternative to fireworks.

Let’s celebrate responsibly and ensure a safe Fourth of July for everyone!

A massive shoutout and THANK YOU to the incredible volunteers who spent their Saturday celebrating National Trails Day with us at William F. Hayden Park! 🏔️✨

The original section of the trail had suffered severe water damage and erosion. Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated volunteers and Lakewood Parks and Recreation team, the trail has been diverted and rebuilt with a lower grade slope. This sustainable redesign ensures that water flowing down the mountain will no longer wash away the path, preserving the trail for years of hiking and riding to come. 🥾🚵

Our trails wouldn't be the same without our passionate community.
