Every Thursday morning for the past 8 years, Lance has shown up at Marshalls in Lakewood before the doors open — sweeping, wiping counters, and cleaning mirrors to get the store ready for the day.

His manager Megan says the impact he has on the team goes way beyond the task list: "He might learn a little differently, but we all learn differently,” she said. “Having Lance work here gives people more exposure, and it helps contradict the stereotype.”

Thank you, Marshalls, for eight years of partnership — and thank you, Lance, for showing up.

Our staff picnic at Parks Tacoma Dune Peninsula was a blast! Lots of great team-building activities and conversations were a highlight of the day.

The board of directors is thrilled to recognize Community Inclusion/Employment Specialist Manuel as Centerforce's 2026 Q2 Employee of the Quarter!

As we prepare for our office move, Manuel has gone above and beyond by finding new homes for surplus items through his connections with community and retirement centers. His initiative has reduced waste, strengthened community partnerships, and made sure our resources continue to benefit others well beyond our walls.

Disability Pride Month + the recent ADA anniversary (July 26) seemed like the right moment to spotlight a client and business partnership that's lasted almost three decades.

John has worked at a Puyallup Safeway for 28 years, bagging groceries, gathering carts, and helping customers get their purchases to their cars. He's been a Centerforce client since 1997, supported in recent years by job coach Cathy. Ask John what he likes most about his job, and he'll tell you: his coworkers, and the conversations he gets to have with customers while bagging their groceries.

At Safeway, John isn't just an employee. He's a familiar, friendly face customers and coworkers know by name. According to Danielle D., PIC at Safeway, the partnership with Centerforce has meant having coaches available to support John, especially when hours are tight or staffing is short, and it's helped the team "find strengths in others."

Meet our IE client Jeff K.

Jeff has been part of the team at Kevin Hayward - State Farm Agent in Lacey for two years — and if you ask him what he loves most about his job, he'll tell you it's the calm.

"Quiet. Very slow-paced. Calming and relaxing."

For Jeff, that environment is everything. He keeps the office running smoothly by restocking merchandise and supplies (coloring books, crayons, pens, insurance folders, notepads) and takes pride in every task he takes on. He's also taken on new responsibilities over time, like watering plants and handling more around the office as his confidence has grown.

Working with his Centerforce job coach Adrianna, Jeff has built real independence. He's trying new things on his own, growing in his role and making friends along the way.

Our client Eric celebrated his birthday last week the way he loves best — at his weekly outing with his specialist, Grace, and the Old Time Fiddlers at the City of Puyallup Activity Center ! He came ready with birthday balloons and shared cookies for everyone at his table, spreading the joy all around.

It's moments like these of community, music and connection that make these outings so special.
