Tillicum Woodbrook Community Center

We are a nonprofit (501c3) that provide the residents of Tillicum /American Lake Gardens with a central facility to promote social, health, educational and cultural programs as well as offer assistance and referral services. er, Community Health Care (operated out of the Community Service Center), Emerson Lake, American Lake, Harry Todd Park, the Lakewood fire statio n, and the active service organizations of TWNA and the Tillicum Merchants’ Association. The Tillicum/ Woodbrook areas serve a population of 4,754. However, there are unique characteristics of this population that make it different from other Lakewood neighborhoods. Forty eight percent are non-English speaking, 78 percent of the total households are renter-occupied, and 90.9 percent of elementary children and 67.4 percent of middle school children are on free and reduced lunches. The report indicated a sharp increase in basic needs (food, shelter, health care ) among residents; the Tillicum/American Lake Gardens Community Service Center responds to 20-30 requests a day for food and medical assistance. The lack of transportation to and from surrounding urban areas was also noted a significant proble m. The number of single-parent households appears to be on the rise.
