May Day is a powerful reminder that progress has always been driven by working people standing together. Today, we celebrate the courage, solidarity, and determination of union members who fought—and continue to fight—for dignity, fairness, and opportunity on the job. From safe workplaces to fair wages, from healthcare to the right to be heard, these victories did not come easily. They were won because people refused to stand alone.
As educators, we know that strong unions mean strong public schools. When we advocate for our students, our classrooms, and our communities, we are carrying forward a legacy built by generations before us. Our collective voice ensures that every student has access to the resources and support they deserve, and that every educator is respected as the professional they are. This work is not just about contracts—it’s about justice, equity, and the future of public education.
On this May Day, we recommit ourselves to that shared purpose. We stand in solidarity with workers everywhere, knowing that when we lift each other up, we all rise together. The strength of our union lies in our unity, and together, there is no challenge we cannot meet.
