LaDawn Sperling has been a resident of Lakewood’s Ward 4 since 2005 when she and her husband moved to the Green Mountain area from Nebraska. Interested in public service from a young age, LaDawn became actively involved in the political process beginning at the age of 17 when she volunteered on her first campaign. Early in her career, LaDawn served as a campaign staffer on two successful statewide
campaigns in Nebraska. She later went on to spend 15 years working for businesses ranging in size from small, privately owned enterprises to multinational public corporations. During this time, she served in a number of community relations, public relations, marketing and change management roles. Most recently, she has built a successful real estate business where, in 2014 – her first year as a realtor with Coldwell Banker – the Denver Metro Association of Realtors named her a Rising Star. In addition to her broad business experience LaDawn completed an International Association of Public Participation training course that focused on building respectful, positive community engagement and public participation processes that create the best possible outcomes for all involved. She believes these are crucial skills for building the public’s trust and serving in the community’s best interests. For the past 10 years, she has volunteered with the Action Center – a non-profit dedicated to helping improve the lives of the homeless and working poor in Jefferson County – and has served on its Board for six years. She recently joined the Board of Spay Today, which aims to fight pet overpopulation and shelter euthanasia through affordable pet sterilization options, and serves on the events committee for Family Tree, an organization that supports victims of domestic violence. She also has served as a citizen representative on the City of Lakewood’s Grocery Tax and Manager Selection committees. LaDawn received her bachelor of arts in corporate communications with an emphasis on public relations and a minor in international studies from Doane College in Nebraska and has a master of professional studies in applied communication, public relations and marketing from the University of Denver.
