It’s safe to say the 2026 Dash for Down Syndrome was THE BEST DAY EVER, as Kauffman Park was filled to the brim with our amazing GiGi’s community. Whether you’ve been alongside us for 10 years or 1 day, we all were a part of something much bigger than any of us alone. Today, we dashed, danced, hugged, rolled, cheered, and loved our incredible friends who rock that extra chromosome!

We extend the biggest “thank you” to all those involved! Our incredible team of volunteers, without you this day wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you Run the Land for navigating our 3.21-mile run and for the Lakewood Police Department for keeping everyone safe along the route. Thank you to our sponsors who continue to believe in our mission: Nordson Adhesive Systems , Cleveland Clinic , Cleveland Clinic Children’s , Cuyahoga DD , Akron Children's , Lakewood Public Library , Empower Sports , Voodoo Tuna , Lorain County Data LLC , First Federal Lakewood , Trikeable Treats ,Kesselman Wealth Management, First National Bank, Connecting for Kids, Cleveland , and Carlisle Creamery . Thank you to the amazing Lakewood Cheerleading for encouraging everyone to achieve their ‘Best of All’, Johnny for kicking off our event by singing The National Anthem, and our Event Committee for putting countless hours into the planning and ex*****on of our Dash for Down Syndrome!

Last but not least, we extend our hearts in gratitude as we thank EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. who either attended, donated, or cheered us on from afar. Together, we raised $153,000+ to continue providing therapeutic and educational programs all at NO COST to our families. More importantly though, this morning allowed us to come together and show our community how capable, brilliant, athletic, kind, funny, and amazing our friends with Down syndrome are.

TWO MORE SLEEPS stand between us and the 2026 Dash for Down Syndrome!

Be sure to check out the schedule of events and also our 2026 event map. We’ve switched things up a little bit, with some fun changes. One you may notice is an area for Team Tents!! Bring a portable tent so your team has a place to land! You’ll be in the perfect area to warm up, play some yard games, cheer on the 3.21 runners, and more!! (Please be respectful of the park and pick up after yourselves!)

Our community partners are fierce advocates who share a common mission of creating a more inclusive, supportive, and accessible world. While each organization breaks down barriers in its own unique way, they are united in empowering individuals and families to thrive.

Be sure to stop by the shelter house this Saturday to meet each organization, learn about the impactful work they are doing, and explore the valuable programs, resources, and opportunities they provide to our community.

National Down Syndrome Society is a leading national advocacy organization dedicated to driving policy change, promoting inclusion, and empowering individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential.

Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Ohio provides support, education, and connection for individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout Northeast Ohio, fostering a strong and inclusive community.

Camp Christopher offers year-round outdoor experiences that inspire growth, friendship, and belonging, including inclusive camp opportunities for individuals of all abilities.

Best Buddies Ohio opportunities for one-to-one friendships, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Connecting for Kids provides resources, education, and support to families navigating concerns about their child's development, behavior, or learning, helping them access the services they need.

HAPPY DASH WEEK!

We can't believe the best day of the year is almost here. Before we get carried away, we want to welcome our final three teams, rounding us out at an even 90 TOTAL TEAMS! (There is STILL time to create a team; there is no deadline!)

The circus came to Leaps & Bounds this weekend, and our enthusiastic ringmasters took center stage!

There was movement, magic, and many a moment where each individual experienced a Best of All! Whether it was following directions while strengthening our core muscles on the balance beam “tight rope”, focusing our fine motor skills as we created a popcorn art piece, or working our brains as we counted the stars - the morning was full of growth! Bravo to each participant as their achievements shined so bright!!
