Juneteenth, A Day of Connection and Community ❤️

Lakewood’s free Juneteenth celebration is happening Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Monte Verde Park, with activities for all ages!

Join the Community Dialogue Session from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. for a meaningful facilitated conversation to reflect, listen and connect in recognition of Juneteenth. Recreation leaders will be available to supervise younger guests during this session. Space is limited, so registration is encouraged at 🔗 www.lakewoodca.gov/JuneteenthReg.

Enjoy the Black-owned business vendor fair throughout the event, stop by the County Library craft area from 10 a.m. to noon and bring young children for special story times in the park amphitheater at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.

Then stick around at noon for a free all-ages dance lesson led by D & B Dance Fitness, a local Black-owned business bringing upbeat music and movement to the celebration.

Come celebrate, connect and enjoy the day with the Lakewood community!

Happy Juneteenth! The City of Lakewood joins the federal and state governments and hundreds of public and private organizations in paying tribute to this important commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States.

City Hall will be closed Monday, June 22 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday, as June 19 falls on a standard alternating closed Friday.

Street sweeping and trash pickup will continue as usual.

Low-Cost Pet Care at Mayfair Park on Friday, June 19 💉🐾

Lakewood’s pet-friendly summer tradition, Bow Wow and Meow Day, returns to Mayfair Park on Friday, June 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. 🐕️🐈‍⬛

Patrons and pets can line up on the walkway in the area next to the parking lot off Fidler Avenue. The one-stop event offers $12 rabies vaccinations as well as:
• Discounted vaccination packs
• Microchipping
• Deworming
• Prescription flea control
• Physical exams

Information regarding low-cost spaying/neutering and health care for dogs and cats will be available. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

Dogs must be on leashes and cats in secure carriers to ensure safety while in the walk-up line. Prior medical records not required but recommended.

Family Swim Nights - Family Day Special on Friday, June 19 🏊️

To kick off Family Swim Nights at McCormick Pool, we're celebrating with the Family Day Special on Friday, June 19! 🎉

From 6:45-8:15 p.m., swimmers can enjoy some cooled-down family fun until their fingers wrinkle. Adding to the excitement, all attendees will be entered into a drawing for a special raffle prize! 🥽

This event costs $3 per Lakewood resident, $5 per non-resident. An adult ID and proof of residency is required.

We're looking to have a boot-scootin' good time as Smith Country Band takes the stage for the Concerts in the Park series on Thursday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. 🎤

Bring your low-back chairs, round up your blankets and mosey on over to Del Valle Park for an evening of country music under the summer sky. 🤠

Food trucks and concessions will be on site with goodies available for purchase, or you may bring your own picnic favorites. Reminder: pets, alcohol and barbecues are not permitted.
