Join the City of Lakewood and Iacoboni Library at Monte Verde Park on Saturday, June 20th from 10am-1pm for a special reading of So Many Years by Anne Wynter and create a Juneteenth mural to hang in the library!

Juneteenth, A Day of Connection and Community ❤️

The City of Lakewood invites residents to take part in a free community event on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Monte Verde Park in celebration of Juneteenth.

There will be a Community Dialogue session, a Black-Owned Business Vendor Fair, a Library Craft Area, children's storytimes and a free all-ages dance lesson!

Whether you join the community dialogue, browse the vendor fair or simply come to celebrate, Lakewood’s Juneteenth event is a meaningful way to honor history and connect with neighbors.

Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! To celebrate, help us make 1000 paper cranes. In Japan, it is believed that if you fold 1000 paper cranes, your deepest wish will come true. This beautiful tradition is called Senbazuru.

Origami paper can be picked up at our Customer Service desk and all completed paper cranes can also be dropped off at the Customer Service desk. The 1000 Paper Crane Project will be on display in the library.
