Always be pre-bear-ed in case you find yourself lost in the dark!

While we doubt the wildlife on are reading signs (like this one in the Colorado River Valley Field Office) for information or directions, they do rely on their senses of sight, smell and sound to find food, escape from danger, and sense other animals and people around them.

bears can see about as well in the dark as we can? You never know when you might come across a bear or an important sign in the dark, so always when recreating on public lands! Check the weather, contact the local field office for closures/restrictions, bring proper gear, stay on designated routes, and pack it out 🐻
