Hydrant Flushing - Week of May 11, 2026
Hydrant flushing will begin the week of May 11, 2026, weather permitting.

Benefits of hydrant flushing:

Flushes sediments from water main pipes, thus enhancing water quality;
Verifies that fire hydrants and valves are working properly and that ample water flow is available for firefighting needs;
Aids in determining weaknesses in water pipes and related fittings and valves.

If you notice water discoloration in your home, please run the faucets and flush the toilets.

Gates neighborhood Reduce Water Usage -
Saturday, April 18, 2026
In the Gates area - please reduce water usage.

Storm update from Public Works:

As of 3:30am Saturday April 18th 2026 the Broadway sanitary pump station is at 13.4 feet with both pumps running at 100%. The station is on generated power and will remain on generated power until levels are reduced to normal condition 3.5 Feet. Public Works staff set up the Riverside storm pump at approx. 2am this morning to pump storm water from the manhole at Riverside and Broadway directly to Crystal Creek.

Broadway and Hampshire roadways are flooded along with other low areas of the 400 block areas in the gates.

Broadway lift station went into high level (6.5 feet) at 9:30pm, by 10:00pm the wet well level climbed to 9.0 feet at 4:00am this morning levels have stabilized at 13.4 feet all of this with both pumps running at max speed.

The entire gates area should be on reduced usage until we get levels down to below 6.5 feet

Updates will be provided via the Village website, email and Facebook.

Sanitary Sewer - The Broadway Sanitary system continues to keep up with the higher than normal flow into the Broadway pump station; we are seeing one pump keeping up with the flows but this pump runs continuously, the pump is running at 70% of its capacity keeping the wet well level at 3.5 feet. There is a second pump that will come on in the event the primary pump can’t keep up with flows once it reaches 100% speed. High level is 6.5 feet

Storm Sewer – The Storm sewer system on Broadway is at capacity, we have not started pumping storm water directly into Crystal Creek yet. Public Works continues monitoring both water levels and rain forecast. With 7 days of dry weather ahead we anticipate the storm system to handle the excess water and low areas with standing water starting to dry up in the days to come.

Stormwater update for the Gates area

Storm and sanitary sewer systems throughout The Gates are operating normally. Even after last week’s heavy rainfall, both systems have continued to function as intended. The Public Works Department remains actively engaged in monitoring water levels to help safeguard against potential flooding. Improvements made over the past five-plus years have significantly reduced backups by effectively managing excess flow during high rain events.
