We are starting this week with a few book-related events: First, on Monday at 6pm, come to the Library to meet local author Steven Manchester who will be talking about his new book, "The Ledger", the second in his "Menu" series. This faith-based story shines a light into the darkness of a medium-security prison from three different points of view.

At 6:30 on Monday, those who love nonfiction can join the Trending Topics Book Club to discuss "The Imposter's War" by Mark Arsenault. Always lively and intelligent conversations in this book club.

Then, on Tuesday, parents and caregivers, bring your kids in grades K-3 to the Library at 6:00pm for an amazing "Book Tasting" event led by Ms. Teresa! This is such a fantastic way to introduce kids to different genres of books and get them excited about reading this summer! (Idea: You can also sign them up for our Summer Reading Program while you're here).

Thursday's all-ages Magic Show with Skip Daniels begins at 6:00pm in the Great Ponds Gallery. While this is a kids' event, we're sure more than a few adults will enjoy this show, so feel free to join the fun. There is no fee nor registration needed to attend this show.

Visit the events calendar on our website for a full listing of meetings and events. And, take a peek to see what we have planned for July which will be here before you know it!

Next Monday, June 22, the Lakeville Public Library welcomes bestselling local author Steven Manchester at 6:00pm. He will be discussing his brand new book, "The Ledger", the second installment in his "Menu" series.

Set in a Massachusetts medium-security penitentiary in the mid-1990s, "The Ledger" is a faith-based story that shines a light into the darkness, allowing the reader to discover a brutally foreign world. Told from three alternating perspectives—officer, inmate, and sergeant—all asking: Can goodness be found in the shadows? What about forgiveness, redemption, and grace? And if the code is ‘loyalty above all things except honor,’ when should an officer cross the blue line to police one of his or her own?

The author of over two dozen books, Steven, a former Gulf War Veteran, now enjoys time writing and spending time with family.

This event is free and open to the public.

The 2026 Summer Reading Programs, PLANT A SEED, READ* begin WEDNESDAY! We have reading programs for kids, teens, and adults, so stop by and get started. Kids will "Read and Bead," earning beads to put on a necklace as they read through the summer, while teens and adults will be able to win prizes for their reading.

In addition, Storyhour is back this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 10:30 for those under 3, and Thursday at 1:00 for kids ages 4+. Playing with Purpose on Wednesday rounds out our offerings this week for your busy preschoolers.

Monday at 6:30, The Weird Book Club launches with a discussion of "Bunny: A Novel" by Mona Awad. If you've read this book and want to talk about it, come by and join the conversation. All theories are valid as there's a lot to unpack in this book.

Finally, the Library will be closed on Saturday to observe Juneteenth which is on Friday, June 19. However, since the Library is not open on Fridays, our observance of this Federal holiday is moved to Saturday.
