This one is serious business, folks.

*Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
*Vehicles and trailers should not be parked on public ways.
*Edges of pavement and driveways will be difficult to see at the height of the storm. If you can mark them, please do so.
*Trash and recycling barrels should not be left in the road.

BLIZZARD WARNING – Sunday Afternoon through Tuesday Morning

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for our area from 4:00 PM Sunday through 7:00 AM Tuesday.

What to Expect:
• Snowfall: 12–24 inches possible
• Wind Gusts: Up to 60 mph
• Visibility: Near zero at times due to blowing and drifting snow

Impacts:
Blizzard conditions will make travel very dangerous and potentially impossible. Whiteout conditions are expected, and strong winds combined with heavy snow could bring down tree limbs and power lines, leading to power outages. The storm will likely affect both Monday morning and evening commutes.

Safety Tips:
• Avoid travel unless it is an emergency
• Charge phones and devices ahead of time
• Prepare for possible power outages
• Check on neighbors, especially our seniors

The Lakeville Fire Department will be adding supplemental staffing ahead of the storm to ensure adequate coverage for emergency calls during the blizzard. Please use caution and plan ahead to stay safe.

The forecast is calling for a substantial amount of plowable snow from Sunday - Monday. The weather reports are predicting snowfall that could exceed 1.5" per hour at the height of the storm.

Conditions may deteriorate quickly and while the DPW crews will be working hard to keep up with that type of snowfall, we ask that you use your best judgement - only drive if necessary.

Please gIve our plow trucks plenty of room to do their job, be patient, and be safe. If you can? Stay home....we hear there might be a football game on? 😬

UPDATE FROM THE LAKEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: To minimize potential damage and allow the DPW to clear roadways effectively, a temporary parking ban will be in effect from 6:00 PM on Saturday, January 24th, through 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27th. Per MGL 40, Section 22D, parking or standing of any vehicles on public ways is prohibited during snow and ice removal operations.

Plow markers are another way to help both you and the plow drivers. The ground will definitely be frozen on Saturday but you may have a chance to get some markers in place. It makes a nice sight line in hazardous conditions.

Stay safe, stay warm, and go Broncos! KIDDING! I'm back on the Patriots bandwagon!

The Lakeville Coa and the Lakeville Public Library have been working with the Transfer Station to collect old or unused string lights and extension cords. These items are considered tanglers - they get caught in trucks and sorting equipment. Not only are they hazardous to workers, but they're RECYCLABLE!

Now, I'm not sure if the residents (and the Library staff) are aware but the COA folks , let's just say... they're Competitive (note the capital C!). Does the Library even know they were part of a challenge? Not sure. But at last check the library bin was only half full and this is the final tally from the COA bin.

Want to help the Library pull off the big win*? The COA closes at 2 p.m. on Friday but The Library is open Saturday until 2 p.m. for one last chance at collecting**. So, come on down with your old lights - LED or incandescent, surge protectors, or extension cords. This collection is open for all residents.

*Prizes have not yet been determined but may consist of: bragging rights, a paper certificate, a recycled trophy, a shopping spree at the Lakeville Transfer Station Swap Shop, or something else entirely!

**Per the Very Official String Light Contest Rules: The Library is closed on Friday - pickup will take place on Saturday, January 10th.
